NY Maritime Fall Open

Summary

Saturday, September 26:

The teams that were able to travel over in the nor'easter hitting the coast today were greeted by some flat and windy conditions on the East River. Race Committee managed to get 2 sets off for a combined fleet before conditions deteriorated with wind increasing and rain returning. BIG shout out to our awesome safety/mark boats for all of their assistance with numerous capsizes today.

Winds were northerly coming over the peninsula averaging in the low 20s for our first two starts and mid-20s for our second two starts. Gusts initially were in the mid-upper 20s and then breached our wind limit as we sent the fleet in for the day.

Racing will resume tomorrow as the forecast has improved for midday Sunday and our Day 2 report time shifting to 10:30am to allow for the forecast to come to fruition.

Thanks to MAISA Rep from KP for supporting with communications onshore.

Sunday, September 27:

We started with a delayed report time letting the nor'easter calm down and got in 6 races when the breeze settled into a nice 8-15knts from the NE with the occasional gust to the upper teens. We completed the event and had some great racing in the massive tide surge (first time seeing water cover part of the No Wake Sign!)

Thank you to the teams that traveled in and congratulations to Fordham on their win!

Shout out to our fantastic Race Committee across the course and shore team for making this event so successful!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
