Gorgeous & busy day for sailboat racing on Brenton Cove today! Aside from the NEDT, there were two separate High School Team Races, Optimists training for Team Trials and DF95 racing all taking place simultaneously throughout the day in tight quarters. The breeze died off & shifted much earlier than expected and even saw SE at times right before launching. Tide was ebbing most of the day, then slack with a slight flood for the final few races.
The start line was right off the Alofsin Piers at Fort Adams all day. A course was set in an easterly before shifting NNE and filling in at a pleasant 8-11 knots for the first set. Breeze picked up to 12-15 knots with some higher gusts for most of the day. Breeze shifted to the E for the last three races with the windward mark right between NYYC and Ida Lewis, making for some seriously shifty & dynamic racing, especially towards the top of the course.
Congratulations to Salve Regina & Mass Maritime on qualifying for NEISA Open Fleet Race Champs @ Brown in two weeks. Mass Maritime & UNH had only one point between them going into the final three races, but Mass Maritime found a way to stay consistent in the tricky E breeze coming off NYYC & Ida Lewis to clinch 2nd. Thank you to Salve Alums Charlotte Martinez ’23 & Shannon Gondoly ’25 for running Signal Boat, Lisa Downey as NEISA Rep (MMA) and all competitors who came out to sail today!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
