Great racing on the first day of the NEISA Open Fleet Race Championship for the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl. 8 races were sailed in each division with A-division in 420s and B-division in FJs. It was a shifty day with the wind direction starting out of the Northeast, slowly going to East/NE, then back to NE, then to the North, then back to NE. The shifts were long and the velocity ranged between 6-10 knots for most of the day, overall getting lighter as the day went on. All courses were W4's. No protests or breakdowns were filed. Thank you our judges George Higham, Brielle Willoughby, and Zack Shapiro, NEISA Rep Johnny Norfleet, Photographer Rob Migliaccio, and Tyler Lamm (Brown '28) for helping out. First warning is scheduled for 10:15am Sunday with six more races remaining in each division. Tight racing at the top between Harvard, Brown, Roger Williams, Yale, and Boston College.
It was a very challenging day on day two of the NEISA Open Fleet Race Championship for the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl. Competitors left the dock in W/SW wind that seemed raceable with some fog and we tried to start on time at 10:15am. However the wind kept moving to the west and completely died by 10:30am. After waiting on the water for a bit, we towed most of the fleet to shore in glassy conditions with some drizzle and postponed ashore while we waited for the anticipated Northwesterly to come. At 12:40pm, the windmills started to spin again and showed the NW breeze. We had a harbor start at 12:55pm and headed out to the building breeze for races 9A and 9B on W4 courses. The NW breeze was nice and shifty close to shore between 10-16 knots. We started races 10A and 10B for both fleets on a W5 course but a storm cell moved nearby with some rumbles of thunder, lightning not far away, and heavy heavy rain so we abandoned both races and headed quickly to shore. We headed back out quickly as the cell moved through to complete the set and were able to only get in one more race after the delay, finishing with 10A and 10B in a 10-15 knot NW breeze on a W5 course just before the 3pm cutoff. A-division was in FJs and B-division in 420s today. No protests or breakdowns were filed.
Thank you our judges George Higham, Brielle Willoughby, and Alex Kitay, NEISA Rep Johnny Norfleet, Photographer Rob Migliaccio, and Tyler Lamm (Brown '28) for helping out. Thank you Dartmouth for lending a powerboat for umpires as well. Congratulations to the Harvard Crimson on winning the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl by 5 points over the hometown Brown Bears. Both Harvard and Brown receive automatic qualifying berths to the College Sailing Open Fleet Race National Championship, May 19-22, hosted by the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg, FL.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
