A very cold and blustery day on the Charles River with temps in the 30’s and northerly winds that ranged from 3-20+ knots. The majority of the racing was held in 5-12 from the northwest but big shifts and an occasional waterspout kept RC and competitors on their toes the entire day. Starts and races were frequently abandoned due to large shifts.
75 races and a re-sail were held with help from a great team of umpires and RC personel.
Racing will continue tomorrow with hopes to complete the round of 16.
The Lynne Marchiando Trophy is held in memory of Lynn Marchiando, a passionate MIT sailor who had a positive impact on many teammates and competitors during her time at MIT. It is fitting that MIT's most competitive team racing regatta is named in her honor.
Today was another cold, shifty, breezy day but from the West with temps in the upper 30’s.
The 16 team round robin was completed around 1:30, leaving just enough time to have round robins between teams 3-6, 7-10, and 10-14 as determined by results from the opening round robin. The final race started 5 minutes before the 3pm cutoff.
Congrats to Harvard and Dartmouth who finished tied for the top spot, with Harvard winning the tiebreak.
Thank you to the team of umpires led by Chief umpire Zach Shapiro: Jack Reiter, Trevor Long, Abby Cook, JP Panarella, John Mastrandrea, and Maddy McGrath. Thanks to the RC team of Dan Tucker, Mike Kanare, Alison Keenan, Brooke Schmeltz, Julius Heitkoetter, and Damian Gold.
