SAISA North Top 6 Invite

Summary

Saturday, September 12:

Calm greeted sailors on beautiful Wrightsville Beach on Saturday morning for a wind delay on shore. By 1030AM conditions has improved and the wind sock was starting to dance so competitors returned to the water and racing began at 11. Following a number of general recalls and course adjustments, the first race was abandoned. After that, the first set took a while to complete but eventually sailors did return to shore to take a short break and rotate. Starts and competition were generally close in the combined three-division event and as the wind increased over the afternoon, the trend continued into the second rotation. Early in the day current evacuating the basin proved challenging, and competitors were quick to make adjustments as tables turned. The RC was able to complete 8 total races; W4 courses with offsets and a windward gate; no protests filed; breakdowns given for forestay failure/demasting. Congrats to the College of Charleston on the regatta win, followed by Clemson and NC State rounding out the podium. Thanks to the UNCW Seahawks and Dr. Campbell for their work putting on the event and to the hosts at CYC1853 and staff, thank you so much! Great start to the fall 2026 season.
