Someone wrote into Mother Nature a little too much and she brought her best for Saturday morning with gale force winds and a heavy sea state coming out of the North. We sat in AP until 1200 when a sudden dip in the wind gave us a small window to sneak a race in. Once the course was set the first race was off in the unfamiliar racing area two by Greenbury Point. The boats figured out very quickly that course left was the place to be with a heavy ebb. Unfortunate that the conditions did not allow for the beautiful blue and gold spinnakers to b e flown on either race. The second race ended with a questionable uptick in breeze that sent the crews in for the day. Saturday ended with Charleston Cougars in first and Navy Midshipmen 1 and Coast Guard on their heels and tied.
Sunday was off to a similar start from Saturday with heavy breeze that restricted the sailors to no genoas and no spinnakers. By the second downwind leg the boats were underpowered leading the the lifting of the sail restrictions. It was interesting to watch as crews split roughly 50/50 on genoa vs. the number three jib. Each one paid off in its own respect as the wind slowly lost pressure. By the second upwind leg of race 4, there was a clear winner in the genoa. The wind kept dying throughout the day to a very sluggish 4 leg course for race six to send Navy Midshipmen 1 home with the 2026 McMillan Cup Title.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
