Competitors arrived to Lake Crabtree County Park on a warm Saturday morning ready to race. The wind also showed up with a consistent easterly of 5-8 mph clocking northeast as the day went along. For the 2026 SAISA Women's Sprint, eleven total races averaging 18 minutes were sailed and competition was close. From the start, South Carolina and Georgia Tech secured the front of the fleet over through the second rotation but the ladies from Chapel Hill started climing followed closely by their rival NC State Wolfpack. In the end, the Tar Heels were able to pass the Gamecocks while the GT Yellow Jackets held on to the lead and put distance, numerically, on the fleet to secure the regatta win. Special thanks to the Greater Raleigh Sports Alliance for helping make this event a reality, to the NC State team and alumni volunteers who ran great races, and to all the competitors who brought a competitive spirts, outstanding corinthian values and enthusiasm to the event. Shoreside vibes were immaculate and women's sailing is thriving in SAISA!
