UNCW Trophy Regatta

Summary

Saturday, February 28:

Saturday morning’s overcast and chilly conditions brought a southerly wind of 10-15 mph with stronger, sporadic gusts to Banks Channel. A low tide around 11 left most of the day with a flooding tide often creating challenges for those not properly considering its impact near marks and gates. From the start, NC State, Clemson, and UNC took hold of the lead and as the first set wrapped, the Wolfpack and Tigers began to separate. Following the first set of B-Division, the Duke Blue Devils began to climb into contention. After nearly another complete set in both divisions, the sun began to break through the cloud cover and with its appearance, the wind promptly died before B-Division and a patient race committee had to eventually abandon finish a sixth race. No protests were filed and one breakdown was granted. Congratulations to NC State on their regatta win, and Clemson and UNC for rounding out the final podium. Thanks to the RC of Coach Rick Campbell, Miranda Gilson and Sam Woodley, as well as all the UNCW sailors and CYC1853 volunteers who helped make the 2026 UNCW Trophy Regatta a success!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
