Women's Western National Semi Finals

Summary

Tuesday, May 20:

It was a tricky day to be race committee, but PRO Catherine Shanahan did a tremendous job running races when they could be run and not running them when they shouldn't. Breeze started from the North, shifted to NE, then Southeast, West and back to NE before the day was done. 3A & 2B races were completed using W-4 and W-3 courses. Lots of photos and video recap of the day will be posted on CollegeSailing.org site.

Wednesday, May 21:

As the sun sets on two days of competition on the St. Mary’s River, the 2025 College Sailing Women’s Fleet Race National Championship Final fleet is set and there’s a sense of déjà vu in the air with all but two teams returning to finals from last year and familiar favorites reemerging.

Despite the change in venue, different conditions, and a disparate set of schools for the semi-finals, three teams find themselves in the same scenario a year apart.

In a repeat of their semi-final performances last year on the Charles River, the Yale University women won the Western division, while Stanford and Cornell University teams again went first and second in the Eastern division.

“I’m really excited to be here with my team,” said Cornell senior skipper Bridget Green. “Going into my fourth and last finals is bittersweet but we are so prepared and ready to compete.”

As the scores reset ahead of racing tomorrow the question is whether history will repeat itself

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
