Racing began just after 11:30am, with the southerly breeze building into the high teens and gusts into the low to mid 20s. The first round was able to be run smoothly, despite several capsizes in the bigger puffs but teams were generally able to self rescue and continue racing. By the end of Round 1, the breeze was sustained in the low 20s, with the highest recorded puff at 29 knots.
When teams came ashore for rotations after round 1, it was determined that the breeze was getting close to the upper limit for racing. With the Open Fleet Race Championship still to be run, all teams were in agreement that it would be best to end the Team Race Championship after the conclusion of round 1.
Many thanks to Tulane for hosting, and especially our umpire team: Don Griglack (Chief Umpire), Dwight LeBlanc Jr., Katie Lovell, and Christian Gamble.
Congratulations to the Tulane Green Wave on the win!
