Day one of the SAISA Spring Open Championships saw beautiful conditions on Biscayne Bay with relatively steady easterly winds from 13-18 kts under a sunny sky. Nine races were sailed in A division and six races in B division before calling an end to the day's racing at 1730. Four breakdowns were awarded that slowed the pace of sailing a bit while repairs were made. One protest was filed resulting in a DSQ. Many thanks to volunteer PRO Carol Ewing for keeping the racing moving along well throughout the day and to Win Cooper for serving as head juror on the protest committee. Racing for the 2025 Richard L. Tillman trophy will resume at 10:00 tomorrow.
Once again Biscayne Bay delivered great sailing conditions for the championship, starting out with breeze in the 16-18 kt range in the morning and slowly decreasing through the day to around 12 kts by the end of racing. Winds were southeasterly with oscillating shifts of 5-10 degrees and streaky puffs that made finding the right lanes downwind a key to making gains. Six more races were sailed in B division and 3 more in A division to bring the total to 12 races in each division for the weekend. One protest was filed resulting in a DSQ. The U. Miami Sailing Hurricanes would like to thank PRO Carol Ewing for a fantastic job running the event and to SAISA coaches and sailors for making this a fun and highly competitive event. Congratulations to the Charleston Cougars and the U. Miami Hurricanes for securing automatic qualifying berths to the 2025 College Sailing National Championships.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
