The wind was a bit unstable on the Boca Ciega Bay early this morning, but the temps were in the mid 70’s and the racing was soon to be good.
The first few races were sailed in a 4 knot WNW wind. The bay breeze filled causing a full 180 and few more races were sailed in a SSE wind at a similar velocity.
After a postponement on shore a SW wind filled at 5-6 knots and the RC was able to complete 31 races before the wind died and the sun began set.
The wind would bend further S, but it always came back to the SW & there was some current flooding on the last beat near the channel.
Looking forward to more quality SAISA team race competition tomorrow.
Sailors were greeted this morning with a shifty NW wind at 4-6 knots and abundant sunshine.
Just after 11:00 the wind began to fade as the temps reached the mid 70’s.
With 5 races to complete in round one, the sailors stayed afloat until racing resumed in a more stable SW sea breeze in the 6-8 knot range.
The first round was completed by 1:00 before racing a final four.
Many thanks to Phil Pape, Carrie Green & Christian Koules for giving their time this weekend & keeping the racing fair.
