ICSA Regional Teams Championship

Day 1 of the ICSA Regional Teams Championship had sporting conditions with winds of 15 - 26 Knots largely from the Southwest. Following the first set of A Fleet, we experienced a drop in the wind to barely 3 Knots of breeze accompanied by a shift to the Northeast, which remained for roughly 1 hour. B Fleet was postponed during this time on the water. The Southwest prevailing direction came back soon after and the wind jumped to 20 Knots and gusting. 4 Races were sailed for A Division & 3 for B Division as racing was concluded at 1445 due to incoming thunderstorms. 2 Protests and a redress were filed, with the redress being granted for a breakdown. Racing will resume tomorrow at 1000.

Day 2 of the ICSA Regional Teams Championship began with a foggy morning. The breeze did not fill in for the entire morning & B Fleet was sent in to be postponed on shore. At 1330, the wind began to fill in from the South and B Fleet was sent back out to finish race 4. After a general recall, Race 4 went off and was completed and racing was concluded by 1430. One protest was filed & concluded with a reinstatement for the winners of Race 4B, Rice University, which ultimately led to their win. Congratulations to the Rice University Sailing Team for their impressive performance this weekend & their first national win in program history. Massive thank you to the Chicago Yacht Club for running & hosting this wonderful event!
