Cold but great sailing conditions for day one of the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race Trophy, hosted by Brown University at the Ted Turner '60 Sailing Pavilion at the Edgewood Yacht Club. Winds ranged from 10-18 knots out of the N/NW and a full round robin of all 10 teams, 45 races, was completed by 4:15pm. We wrapped up the day breaking into a Gold Top 4 and Silver Bottom 6 for some races until 6pm.
Racing started at 10am in a decent easterly at around 6 knots, with the Silver fleet getting going in FJs and a resail between Brown and Harvard in 420s from Saturday's first Gold fleet race due to a breakdown. All Silver races and a second Gold Top 4 were completed by 12:30pm. We started a second round for the Silver fleet and got more than halfway through but wind began to die to less than three knots and we sent them in around 2:20pm after waiting for a bit. We also attempted to get in a third round for the Gold Top 4 but sent them in around 1:30 with the dying breeze. 72 races were sailed over the two days, with a full robin of all 10 teams, a double Gold Top 4, and Silver Bottom 6 round. All Gold races were in 420s and Silver races in FJs.
A huge thanks to Dartmouth, Harvard, the Moses Brown School, the Edgewood Yacht Club and Sailing School, Roger Williams, and Yale for bringing powerboats for umpires and racing. Thank you to Justin Assad for being the NEISA Representative and to Rob Migliaccio for the great photos throughout the weekend. We had a great group of umpires, led by Chief Umpire Richard Feeny, and George Higham, John Mastrandrea, John Moulthrop (Saturday), Julia Reynolds, Megan Roach, and Neil Williamson. Thanks to the Brown Sailors who braved the cold and helped as well: Charlie Case '26, Gabby Collins '28, Reese Corckran '28, Julian Dahiya '28, Charlie Gish '28, Talia Levine '26, and alum Carly Costikyan '24.
Congratulations to Yale on winning the 2025 Dellenbaugh Women's Trophy with a 13-2 record.
