Big 10 Team Race

Day one of the Big Ten Team Race Regatta brought a variety of conditions, with winds gusting to 25 knots in the morning causing a wind delay. After the squall passed, racing resumed in the afternoon with a lighter breeze of 6 knots. Despite the rain and delays, we were able to complete 3 round robins. With tight scores among the fleet, we are excited to see what Sunday brings!

Day two of racing started with a re-sail of race 4 (Michigan Blue v. Notre Dame) as redress following Michigan Blue's protest against the race committee. We then completed one round robin in 7 knots of steady breeze, with gusts to 13 knots. The regatta was officially over around noon with a total of four round robins raced during the weekend. Michigan Blue and Notre Dame ran an extra practice scrimmage for fun and as preparation for next week's qualifier event.

Thank you to the visiting teams for coming out to Baseline Lake and making it a great competition. Additionally, thank you to Lisa (Certified Club Judge) and Scott (US Sailing Certified Regional Race Officer) Corder for running a fantastic regatta. We are also grateful for our three umpires, Sandra Svoboda (Certified Club Judge, Certified Club Race Officer, Umpire in Training, former Match Race Champion, longstanding member of the US Sailing National Mallory Cup Committee), Clark Chapin (Certified National Judge, Certified Club Race Officer, US Sailing Area E Administrative Judge), and John Walton (former longtime Certified Club Judge, veteran Team Race judge). Thank you to our finish boat, Pat and Dale (Certified Club Race Officer) Gort. Lastly, thank you to our mark set boat, manned by John and Zara Redner. We could not have run the regatta without such a great team of volunteers!
