Winds ranged from 10-25 knots from the SW to W with a few gusts above 30. There was a brief pause to get the correct teams in boats for a three team sail-off round for the Top 6, between Miami, Dartmouth and Boston College. BC, and Dartmouth won their sail-off races with Miami and advanced to the top 6. Conditions allowed for a total of 50 races.
One damage hearing was heard involving Navy and ODU. The result was a discretionary penalty of -0.5 wins to ODU. A big thank you to our great umpire team and the Monarchs who helped with RC.
The day started off with 10-15 knots from NNE. The top 6/bottom 4 round was completed by noon and the decision was made to run a final 4, which was sailed in 8-10 knots from the NE. We are grateful for our hardworking umpire team led by CHUmp Christine Accetella; Vicki Sodaro, Carter Little, Jeff Borland, Parker Purrington, Jack Elkin, Ray Groble, Bridget Groble, Steve Sparkman, Anna Patterson, and Jerry Thompson. Marks were moved by Sam Ficksman '96 and races were started by Ethan Tutt '24 alongside the Monarch race management.
Congratulations to the Naval Academy Midshipmen on their win.
