Perfect day on the Charles River to kick off the week of racing. The wind was fairly steady from the ESE and shifted slightly east throughout the day. Velocity built from 4-7 to 7-10 knots throughout the day.
12 races were run in each division. 3 protests were heard, 1 disallowed and 2 DSQ's. Judges were John Pratt (chief judge), John Mooney and Trevor Long with help on the water from Nevin Snow.
Close racing with Yale taking the lead early and holding on to first for the rest of the day and ahead in both divisions. Points are tight for 3rd through 6th and a very close battle between Tulane and St. Mary's for the 9th and 10th spot with 9 teams advancing to finals at the end of the day tomorrow. With six more races in each division, there is plenty of potential for a reshuffle.
Racing will commence tomorrow at 10:30 with the teams switching locations to Harvard.
RC was led by PRO Carter Brock (Northeastern alum) with help on the signal boat from MIT undergrad Julius Hoekoetter. Finish boat was staffed by event chair Matt Lindblad and Northeastern alum Morgan Termaat. Markset was handled by MIT Co-head coach Mike Kalin. Shore side, MIT dockmasters Stew Craig and Dan Tucker were on motorboats and breakdown and Hannah Agate handled the team and race official logistics.

We had to wait around for breeze today. It eventually settled in from the SSW at 4-6kts. Tom Duggan and Tom Kirk did a great job running the races. Congratulations to Yale for the win! Best of luck to all the teams who qualified for tomorrow.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
