Teams arrived to a sunny and breezy Port Jefferson Harbor for the Brendan Brown-McCue Memorial regatta for the Stony Brook Cup. Brendan was a wonderful teammate, friend and all around amazing person who loved sailing and the sailing team. Brendan tragically passed away in 2019 and we commemorate his memory each Spring with this regatta.
Racing began a bit past 11am in a 15-20 knot NW breeze that gradually shifted left throughout the day. As it shifted left, the breeze died a bit (but still with some puffs that packed a punch) and got fairly shifty as it started to come off the land. We completed 9 races in each division and completed the regatta on Saturday, giving everyone Easter Sunday off. Teams met up in the Port Jefferson YC clubhouse afterwards for pizza and snacks and a brief awards ceremony.
Congratulations to Hampton University for some great sailing and a decisive victory! Thank you to all the visiting teams for coming and thank you to all the SBU team members who helped run the regatta throughout the day.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
