Old Florida 2024

Racing was scheduled to start at 11 a.m. but the wind was below four knots and insufficient to sail in. Throughout the day, the wind was monitored. The forecast showed that once the wind began blowing from the northeast it should have filled in, but it never did. At around 1:30 p.m. we sent a boat out to see if a breeze at about 4 knots would hold, but it did not. Unfortunately, at 2:20 lighting struck in the area and the lifeguards called everyone off the water for at least the next 30 minutes. I made the decision at that time to call the regatta since it was not likely we would have enough time to complete the 6 races necessary to constitute a regatta. Regretfully, we were unable to get a singular race in due to the aforementioned conditions.
