After a blustery and cold day on Lake St. Clair for the Team Racing Championship, we went to bed hoping for more pleasant conditions, and it was delivered. Racing was completed in a lovely 6-10 kn from the North in the Michigan sunshine. 8 races were completed in both fleets, and we hope to finish out the rotation tomorrow. University of Wisconsin leads the way, closely trailed by University of Michigan and Northwestern University, both tied for second place. Buckle up folks, championship Sunday is sure to be a good one.
It was a long and slow day to round out the MCSA Open Qualifying series. The race committee was able to knock out two quick races for A fleet in 5-7kn to start the morning, however, our hopes of a short day were quickly diminished as the breeze died during rotations. B fleet waited out on the water, eagerly hoping for the forecasted 5pm breeze to come in just a little bit sooner. Lunches were ferried out to sailors with hope that the second there were raceable conditions, we could go, and at 1345, we got our opportunity. 2 B fleet races were completed in 3-6 kn from the East just as was forecasted for later that evening to close out the regatta. A huge congratulations to University of Wisconsin and Northwestern University for securing their berths to the ICSA Fleet Race National Championships in May. Many thanks to PRO Scott Corder, Markset Tom White and John Hammett, and Finish Bob Weiland for running fantastic racing all weekend. Additional thanks to Umpires Mike Kaspar, Geoff Pedrick, Caroline Bielski, Sandi Svodoba, George Dorsch, and Bill Turner. Last, but not least, thank-you to Christina Noland and Grosse Pointe Yacht Club for hosting such an unbelievable event.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
