While it was a bit gloomy out compared to the norm, the wind and conditions made it an absolutely incredible day of sailboat racing in Santa Barbara. Flat water and breeze that started at 3-4 knots from 210 degrees and settled in at about 7-10 knots from 230 degrees lasted the entirety of the racing day which started promptly at 11:30am and finished at 5:45pm. Shifts were evident, but the course had a somewhat predominantly left sided race course. Current was a factor starting slack/up course and switching down course as the day went on. The competition was quite tight at the top of the fleet in both divisions as teams worked hard to jockey for one of two berths to the national championship. Despite that, the PCCSC camaraderie that has become a staple of west coast events was on display. In all, eight races were completed in the A division and 6 races were completed in the B division. No protests, redresses, or breakdowns were filed.

Another fantastic day of sailing got under way shortly after 11am with a surprisingly steady southwesterly breeze at about 6-8 knots. The conditions were definitely trickier today with some fairly sizeable shifts in both directions in addition to a mild current pulling down and slightly across the course. A fog bank off the left side of the course made the lefties come in strong but not always as 10-15 degree righties popped occasionally keeping sailors on their tows.
The competition got tougher as the day went on with USC and UCSB battling very hard for the second automatic qualification berth all while Hawaii, Cal Maritime, and U Washington put up some impressive scores to try and close the gap behind them. Stanford, who had built a comfortable lead after day one, got more comfortable as teams' focus began settling on the second qualifying spot, allowing them to sail away with the regatta.
It came down to the very last race of the regatta as USC had a 2 point lead going into race 12B. Ultimately, the UCSB Gauchos clinched the second automatic qualifying berth on the second to last leg of the last race with a nice left shift sending them several spots in front of one of USC's breakout freshman, Hudson Mayfield.
There were no protests, breakdowns, or requests for redress filed. 6B race and 4A races were completed pm day two.
