Day 1 of the 2nd annual Duckling Regatta on Fern Ridge Reservoir provided tricky sailing conditions for the OSU, WWU, Gonzaga and UO sailors. With gusts up to 16 knots out of the south/southwest, choppy and puffy conditions persisted until the afternoon, accompanied by an overcast sky and scattered showers. After several capsizes and an impressive 8 races completed in both divisions, racing was called for the day.
As a test to the versatility of the sailing skills of the sailors, Day 2 gave moderate to light, shifty conditions. With the benefit of sunny skies and good attitudes, the sailors completed 4 more races in both divisions. A big thank you to the Race Committee, (Rich Aaring, Annin Ramsing, Michelle Wood and Megan Richter) and Safety Boat (Bob and Sterling Bush). More appreciation goes out to the Eugene Yacht Club for supporting the event and to all the teams who made the long drive to Eugene!
