Day one of the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race Trophy saw near perfect team race conditions with a shifty mainly westerly direction ranging from 8-18 knots, sun, and temps near 50 degrees. 55 races were sailed on the digital N course in two fleets of FJs and two fleets of 420s giving each team 10 races for the day.
It was another great day of sailing at the Dellenbaugh! After a delay for no wind until 11:15am, the format went to a double top 4 Gold fleet and teams ranked 5-11 Silver round robin from day one results. The pace was fast in order to get in all of the racing, 88 total races for the event. The breeze was shifty and up and down mainly out of the west ranging from 5-13 knots. The Gold fleet teams of Yale, Stanford, Dartmouth, and Brown sailed in FJs and the Silver Fleet sailed in 420s. A huge thanks to our awesome umpire team led by Chief Umpire John Pearce and umpires Abby Cook, Maddy McGrath, Jed Bell, Will George, and Hunter Zonnenberg. Thanks to the Moses Brown School, the Edgewood Yacht Club, Dartmouth, and Harvard, and Yale for helping with powerboats. Thank you to Brown sailors Sierra Bornheim, Blake Behrens, Martin Atilla, Sidney Moyer, Lulu Hamilton, and Ethan Simpson for Race Committe help. And thank you Bern Noack for being the ICSA Rep and to photographer Rob Migliaccio for the awesome photos from the weekend.
Congrats to Yale on winning the 2024 Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race Trophy!
