Today started with postponement until a light and shifty W/WSW breeze came in at 4-6knts for race 1A. The breeze then shut down sending the fleets into postponement onshore. Breeze filled back in 5-8knts from the SW and moved steadily more S for race 1B to 3A before shutting off again. Finally the predicted W to WNW breeze filled in at a lovely 10-15knts building for the final part of the evening with gusts into upper teens as we rounded out the day ending on race 6B.
Current started off this morning from the East, it swapped after high tide at 10:30am and built steadily from the West flowing from the Whitestone Bridge to the Throgs Neck Bridge. Current was moving at around 3.5knots at its height, kudos to the Race Committee and competitors for working through the distinctive East River current!
Two protests and one redress were heard ashore following racing. Many thanks to the Protest Committees assembled to hear them.
We look forward to seeing everyone back tomorrow!
The second day started with a Harbor Start at 0930, the course got set as breeze settled in from the WNW and stayed fairly consistent with some shifty gusts while building over the day from 4-6knts up to 12-14knts. The current swapped around 1100 with the tide change and then settled in for the day flowing from the Whitestone to the Throgs Neck Bridge. Conditions were also much chillier today, air temps dropped about 10 degrees Fahrenheit compared to yesterday.
The more consistent breeze direction and less severe current made for a great day of racing as Race Committee got through 9 races per division ending the regatta on race 15B which started just after 1530. Breakdown points were awarded to UPenn in race 15A which was the only protest/redress/breakdown heard for Day 2 of the event.
Congratulations to the Georgetown Hoyas on winning the event and to all the competitors on a great weekend!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
