Winds ranged from 8-25 knots from the SW and shifted to the NW by the end of the day. Conditions allowed for a total of 51 races. One hearing resulted in a black flag penalty in race 20 due to damage to a boat. Plan for Sunday is to complete Round 2 and a final 4.
Huge thank you to our umpires, CHump Christine Accettella, Sandy Grovsner, Jeff Borland, Vicki Sodaro, Jeremy Herrin, Carter Little, Anna Patterson, Steve Sparkman, Ray Groble, Bridget Groble, Jack Elkin, Emily Harrison and Jerry Thompson for their hard work on the water and the Monarchs for running races, moving marks and fixing boats.
Sailors waited on shore until 12:30pm as wind and wave conditions did not allow for safe launching or umpire boat driving. Once started, 18 races were sailed by 3pm, bringing the race total to 69 races. After 69 races, Georgetown and Navy were tied for first with a 12/3 record. A sail off was done and the Naval Academy won, winning the event. One redress was filed and not allowed. Big thank you to CHUmp Christine Accetella, with her team of Sandy Grovsner, Jeff Borland, Vicki Sodaro, Jerry Thompson, Steve Sparkman, Ray Groble, Jeremy Herrin, Carter Little, Anna Patterson, Jack Elkin, Bridget Groble, Emily Harrison and Abigail Tutt. The Monarchs on shore did a great job of running races in challenging conditions.
Note: "Round 3" is the sail off and does not count towards overall record
