Day 1 of J70 Invite #3 saw excellent conditions with a 10-15 knot Northerly with a strong ebbing current at the start of the day. The breeze built through the afternoon with gusts up to 25 knots, and competition is tight between each team. The Webb Clippers have a 12 point lead on second place going into day 2 and scoring is very tight for the rest of the pack with URI and CGA Bears 1 currently rounding out the top 3.
Day 2 of the J70 invite started off with winds initially blowing 15-25 out of the NNE and dying down to 8-14 for the second half of the day. Strong ebbing current continued to be a factor today, with dynamic current lines changing from race to race making the race course extra tricky. Just before race 10, a spreader bracket cracked and boat 5 had to be retired for the day, so teams heading into boat 5 were given a bye for those races. Every team had some strong finishes on Day 2 with the Webb Clippers continuing to top the competition and landing themselves in 1st overall. The URI Rams continued their great performance from last weekend, finishing in a strong 2nd place. The Charleston Cougars just edged out the CGA Bears 1 for a 3rd place finish. Congrats to all competitors for a great event!
