A windy start the regatta with 14-18 knots predicted out of the WNW and the weather did not disappoint. We finished the day with two rotations in each division. Rotations on shore were very challenging in the blustery conditions. Our Safety team and on-shore volunteers did an amazing job getting sailors back to shore in challenging conditions. Saturday evening's College Sailing Information Night was also a success with great presentations by all of the colleges in attendance, as well as enthusiastic interest from the high school sailors and families in attendance.
A slow start to the morning with light and variable winds. As the day progressed, the wind shifted from the South and filled in as predicted. Congratulations to the NC State Wolfpack for the regatta victory, and to the University of South Florida Bulls and the Jacksonville University Fins for filling out the podium in a competitive and exciting event. A HUGE THANK YOU to all of our race committee, safety team, judges and onshore volunteers!!! And another BIG THANK YOU to our Regatta Organizers, Alicia and Tavia Smith for making it all happen! Hope to see you all next year. Photos including drone footage from the event are available online at: https://capefearcommunitysailing.org/. The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
