SAISA Spring Women's Open

Summary

Sunday, March 26:

Competitors for the 2023 SAISA Women's Spring Open were greeted by a beautiful day in Duval County, home of the Jacksonville Fins. A strong ebb tide fought against 5-10kts of SSW breeze for the first set of A-division racers. Short down-winds on the current conveyor belt allowed for leaders to extend quickly off good starts and strategic 1st beats.

First B-Division set saw the breeze pick up into the low teens as the current slacked off. This allowed for much tighter racing across the fleet as the group was able to eliminate one variable from the race track.

The final set for each A and B division saw drastically different wind velocity and current direction with puffs into the high teens and a strong flood tide which kicked up some choppier conditions.

Congratulations to home team for winning the event and putting a secondary team on the podium just behind the Florida State Seminoles who finished with a well earned 2nd place finish. A big thank you goes out to all the competitors for keeping the racing safe, clean, and fun. Thank you to all the supporters and JU team members that helped make this event possible.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
