One of the stranger days I've served as PRO at USMMA! Winds rarely from the forecast easterly direction. Teams set out on time in a 5-6kt. SSE breeze. The course was set, but just before 10am the breeze had shifted to the NNW at 6-7kts. That northerly breeze built over the first 6 races in A and B divisions to 9-10 kts., when we broke for lunch. Returning after lunch the northerly was dying. A 4-5kt. southerly flipped the breeze and the course was reset. Races 7A and 7B were started but abandoned as the northerly re-filled during the final seconds of the 7B start. The course was reset and racing ended at races 10A & B by 5pm. There were no protests filed and no breakdowns recorded. Racing resumes tomorrow at 0930.

Today, we completed races 11A & 11B through 14A & 14B. Both divisions switched fleets. Thick fog and no wind greeted the sailors until around 1000, when two barges, anchored very near the racing area were revealed as the fog lifted. Shortly thereafter, a nice North-easterly breeze filled and the fleet headed out at 1050. Racing was concluded before 2pm. One protest was heard with no penalties assessed.
