Mustang Women's

Summary

Saturday, February 25:

The teams arrived in Morro Bay surrounded by snow-capped mountains and chilly air. Teams rigged and got onto the water in a building northerly, but before the race committee could set a course, a squall passed through that brought freezing temperatures and pea-sized hail onto the course. As teams were scooping slush out of their boats, the wind died, and only 1 race was completed in both Varsity and JV. A huge shoutout to John Vandemoer from Zim Sailing for teaching us all about tuning and FJ sailing in the rain and hail. The teams enjoyed a pasta and garlic bread dinner after racing was called for the day provided by Cal Poly Sailing, and the weather cleared up for a beautiful sunset.

Sunday, February 26:

The forecast was more encouraging on Sunday, and as the wind built race committee set a course and got racing at 1130. The direction meant that the courses were short, but the race committee was able to produce 22 races by the end of the day to round out another great Mustang Open. Many thanks to our PRO Sean Leddy for leading the dedicated group of alumni, Morro Bay Yacht Club members, and Cal Poly students who volunteered their time, energy, and boats to make this event a success and one to remember.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
