College Sailing returned to Lake Norman for the first time in more than a decade and conditions and the hospitality of the Lake Norman Yacht Club did not disappoint. Great breeze from 8-15mph made for some quality racing led by a well-organized RC. Sailors in A-Division sailed Vanguard 15s which is rare in College Sailing and the teams really enjoyed getting to sail a new boat. B-Division raced in 420s and conditions were optimal for both fleets. Out of the gate UNC-Wilmington showed that they'd be right in the mix on the day, but it wasn't long thereafter that the College of Charleston started to exert their dominance on the fleet. The University of North Carolina dialed in a string of early podium finishes in B-Division while the University of South Carolina's A-Division did the same quickly adapting to the V15. For the remainder of the morning, UNC, USC, and UNCW fought to fill out the podium with UNC starting to pull away after lunch. Speaking of lunch, the LNYC folks put on an amazing spread for all of the sailors, coaches, and spectators who were in attendance on a beautiful North Carolina spring day. (Many thanks to Mrs. Williams and all of the LYNC folks who took great care of everyone!) As the afternoon progressed, Charleston continued to pull away from the fleet en route to a regatta victory, joined on the podium by UNC and USC. Congratulations to the Cougars and all of the teams who participated, making college sailing's return to Lake Norman a success. Thanks again to a stellar Race Committee led by Ken Corsig, all of the V15 owners who loaned their boats for this event, LNYC for the hospitality and fleet, Derek and Allison Binkley for facilitating on-the-water coaching from their boat, and all of the volunteers who helped make this event a success. This was also the first-ever home/hosted regatta for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Well done Deacs. After such a successful and well-done regatta, we are really looking forward to bringing college sailing back to Lake Norman next spring!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
