It was a tremendous day of sailing on the Charkes River this afternoon with 25 competitors battling it out for honors over a series of 10 races. Mike O'Connor and Matt Lindblad tweaked buoys while Yitian Zhu and Samantha Karlson recorded finishes for the competitors.
Boston College's Aidan Cunningham hiked harder than everyone else and took the victory away from Alex Horne of MIT. Ian Hopkins Guerra of Roger Williams sailed very consistently to earn the final step of the podium. Congratulations to Tufts' Meredith Broadus who was the top woman sailor and BC Eagle Cole Canuel who finished mid-fleet for the day. It was a wonderful sight to see all these red sails fighting it out while the Boston Dinghy Cup was also being sailed in colorful FJs and 420s.
This weekend marks the last weekend of running intercollegiate sailboat races as MIT's Sailing Master for Franny Charles along with his assistant Miss Lucy. MIT is fortunate to have Matt Lindblad taking over as the fifth Director in the 87 year history of the sailing program at MIT.
The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
