Saturday morning saw fog and no breeze which caused a postponement. A light Southeasterly filled at noon and the first round robin started at shortly thereafter. We saw winds ranging from SE-S with winds between 3-8knots for the remainder of the day. The biggest challenge for the competitors (and race management) was the 2knot upwind current that varied across the race course. The second round robin was started a little after 4 but dense fog arrived again forcing racing end for the day. Big thank you to the umpire team led by CHUMP Pearson Potts. The home team sits atop the leaderboard going into day two.
After a brief postponement the the second round robin resumed at 1045 in a 5knot Southeasterly. About half way through the round the wind went to the Southwest causing a course reset then it went further right for the last few races. The second round was completed around 2:30om which did not leave enough time for a final four. A sail off for third between Roger Williams and Coast Guard was the last race of the day. Special thanks for CGA Sailors that worked RC all weekend and to the umpire team of: Pearson Potts- CHUMP Kelsey Wheeler Bob Austin LaFrance Tony Weiner Paula Grasberger Ralph Kinder Mike Gemperline Rex Cameron
Congrats to the Jumbos for winning the 2022 Southern New England Team Race.
