SAISA South Points #3

Summary

Saturday, March 5:

South Points 3 was hosted by the University of South Florida in the spectacular conditions that bring tourists to St. Petersburg in March. Mostly sunny skies with a warm 8-12 knot breeze from the east.

Ten teams representing nine different schools competed, racing in 20 FJ's in a combined division regatta. This affords a rare opportunity for B division sailors to see how they do against A division, and also produces a more challenging starting line. Host USF dominated the regatta, followed by Eckerd and Florida Tech, with Florida and Jacksonville rounding out the top 5.

Many thanks to the USF Bulls sailors who ran the 10-race regatta; Lexie Foos, Brilan Christopher, Grace Skipper, and Tara Murphy, and to the visiting coaches who assisted.

A special shout-out to the UCF Knights team who have been battling for the past week to regain their ICSA membership status, but due to a delay in administration responsiveness were not registered at race time. They drove to the venue hoping for good news, but were still not eligible. They are enthusiastically looking forward to competing in remaining SAISA south events, and SAISA is eager to have them on the water again soon.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
