A late report time was the move for the Mark Healy Fleet Race Championship as the forecast was dismal. A light south-easterly breeze developed around 2:15pm bringing racers off the beach into a lumpy sea-state and light conditions. Oscillating shifts were as large as 30 degrees giving sailors lots to consider compared to the prior day's Team Race Champs. Breeze hovered at about 3-5 knots for the two A races and 5-6 knots for the two B races. A third A division race was attempted, but shifts of over 40 degrees and dying breeze made the course untenable to maintain. The RC will try again tomorrow when the forecast is better. Much better conditions today with a light southwesterly developing and ranging from 5-8 knots until the last races of the day when the wind shifted to a shifty southeasterly. The race committee was able to get off five more races in each division with Stanford emerging victoriously and UCSB grabbing the second spot to the national semi-finals. UCLA, Cal Maritime, and San Diego State were awarded berth invites to the Regional National Invitational. Thank you again to Lucas Pierce for umpiring and to all of the PCCSC teams that attended!
