MAISA Spring Women's Championship

Summary

Saturday, April 16:

Racing began at 0945 in a north breeze 6-8kts. In race 6A the breeze began to soften, the 6B race was abandoned at the gate marks with the breeze shutting off completely. There was a wind delay on shore from 1300-1430 when a southerly flow began to fill. It topped out around 7kts at first but did not last long. The 6B race was held without issue. Race 7A was a challenge to complete with the breeze dropping out on the final run but positions did not drastically change. The wind did not fill back in and racing was called at 1700 for the day. In total 13 races, 7A and 6B were completed. One protest was filed on the water between NYM and FDM, but was withdrawn. We will begin tomorrow at 0930 for race 7B.

Thank you to Mike Callahan for serving as the MAISA Rep. Penn leads the event heading into Sunday. A northerly with good winds is predicted for Sunday.

Sunday, April 17:

Sunday was a touch and go type of day on Cayuga Lake. We started off the day with one fleet of 420's and race 8A due to higher winds and chillier temperatures. We opted to stick with one fleet of boats for a while as squalls came through seemingly every 30 minutes. We were able to complete 3A and 4B races in on & off sets up to race 10B. At this time we felt the squalls had moved on and the sun came shining through. We moved to two fleets once again for races 11-14 in both divisions and were able to complete the rotation for a full event (28 total races). On the day breeze ranged anywhere from 8-22kts with winds predominantly from the NW. One protest was filed and withdrawn. One redress was heard and granted. At the end of the day, All-MAISA Women's sailors were announced. Congratulations to all of the recipients.

Thank you to the Cornell Sailors for helping facilitate the rotation and the racing. Congratulations to Cornell University Big Red for winning the Conference Championship! And also to UPenn for earning an automatic bid to fleet race Nationals.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
