As forecast breeze was on for the first day of MAISA women’s conference championship. There were several delays due to too much wind. All racing was sailed in 420’s. 10 races were completed. Tomorrow will begin with race 5b in 420’s. A will race in FJ’s
Racing got underway promptly Sunday morning with 22 races scheduled for the day. The classic East River current was a major factor throughout the day with conditions showing favorable current in the morning, slack midday and adverse current to close out the afternoon. Breeze was from the ESE and ranged from 5-10kts throughout the day. The SUNY sailors did a fantastic job of setting marks and keeping the course square and keep racing moving. Race 16b was completed shortly before the cut off time. Congratulations to our 2018-19 all MAISA women’s skippers who were announced at the end of the day. We are excited for the top 9 schools to represent the conference at nationals in Newport! Congratulations to the University of Pennsylvania for winning the 2019 maisa women’s championship! Huge thanks to the SUNY sailors and Alumnus Jimmy Keegan ‘16 for running racing this weekend.
