Day 1 of the Mendelblatt Team Race at USF St. Petersburg is in the books. Warm and sunny conditions with a nice Southerly breeze welcomed the teams from as far away as California. Conditions did allow to get most of the way through Round 1 before the wind vanished. The teams were able to take a little time to cool off in the shade and talk about their first team race event of the year. The seabreeze finally came in and the Bulls RC was able to get off enough races to get through Round 1 and almost halfway through Round 2. With conditions looking more promising tomorrow, a third round was added. Want to thank the teams that traveled to St. Pete and also to the Mendelblatt Family providing pizza and drinks when the competitors came in off the water. Everyone appreciated having some to eat after putting the boats away for the evening. Tomorrow holds more promise with better sailing conditions forecasted.
Today started with a little southeasterly breeze for the first few races...then we had an unscheduled lunch break. After that, a lovely but shifty southwesterly came in and all teams where in the hiking straps on the weather legs. The Bulls race committee managed to bang out enough races to complete the second round and then started a Top 5 Bottom 4 final. Came up one flight short of completing the Top 5 with the time limit. Thank you to all the Bull's team members that came out to help today. Congratulations to the Stanford Cardinals on an impressive win and thank you for making the trip to the east coast. Thank you to all the teams that took the time to travel here this weekend and make this event successful. Travel safe!
