Day one of the 2018 Graham Hall Team Race brought another weekend of wacky westerlies in the Severn River. However, challenging conditions were no match for our crack team of Race Committee led by PRO Gavin O'Hare, and Mike O'Bryan along with a whole host of midshipmen. 93 races were sailed today in light and shifty conditions. A huge thanks to our umpire team of Rob Overton, Jeff Borland, Pat Healy, Doc Sullivan, Larry Sill, Gina Henderson, Derick Lynch, Richard Born, AJ Reiter, Marissa Golison, Margaret Podlich and Katja Sertl. Tomorrow we will begin with race 94, Georgetown vs. Hobart William Smith.
Day two of this year's Graham Hall began with a 9 knot Northwesterly coming straight down the river. Conditions were beautiful and Sunny allowing race committee to complete the initial round robin of 16 with ease. A Gold 6, Silver 6, Bronze 4 was attempted, but the wind began to dance circles around the river making the three rounds impossible to complete. Silver and Bronze were abandoned, and Gold was able to be completed just before the cutoff time. A huge thanks to all of our volunteers: PRO Gavin O'Hare, with race committee of Dave Schoene and multiple midshipmen, and our umpire team of Rob Overton, Pat Healy, Doc Sullivan, Larry Sill, Jeff Borland, Gina Henderson, Derick Lynch, Richard Born, AJ Reiter, Marissa Golison and Margaret Podlich. Congratulations to the Roger Williams Hawks on their victory. We will see everyone next year!
