The day started off around 10:15 with a beautiful 7 knots out of the West and virtually no current. Shifts, chop, and light breeze made the first few races dynamic, and challenged the sailors to find a groove between the puffs. As the day progressed, the wind picked up and began shifting to the South, which delayed the racing for a few minutes as the race committee shifted the course left. Leading up to the lunch break, puffs of up to 20 knots made the racing more physical. After 6 races, each division took a much-needed break as we assessed the conditions. Around 2 o’clock, the wind shifted further South, and they were able to finish 2 more sets. After 10 races with a variety of conditions, the Cougars have a comfortable lead on the fleet with Jacksonville in second. There are 5 races to be sailed tomorrow, but the morning looks like it’ll be a drifter, so it may be tough to get them all off. Overall, it was a challenging, but exciting day.
Unfortunately the breeze never filled this morning and at 11 am the fleet was released. Congrats to the Cougars for their win and to USF and Jacksonville for finishing second and third. Thanks to all the MCSA schools who made the trek all the way down to Chucktown! And thanks to Jack Thompson and his team of Cougars who ran some great racing!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
