A beautiful day on the St. Mary's River was accompanied by some unusual sailing conditions. Racing started with a light southerly. After one less than inspiring race inside Horseshoe Bend, racing moved to south of Church Point to complete 4A and 3B. The breeze shifted to the East/NE and then settled in late from the SouthEast at 10knots. Conner Blouin and Eric Reitinger kept the starting line clean and racecourse square for 10 races in each division. There were several requests for redress and protests heard late into the evening by Andrew Cole, Esteban Forrer, Tierney Driscoll and Sara Morgan Watters. The forecast is for windier conditions from the NW Sun to complete remaining 8 races in each division.
To quote Monty Python, "And now for something completely different . . ."
On Sunday competitors were greeted with beautiful NW breezes of 10-20 knots that held all day. Top players took some spills, but there were lots of smiles on faces as planing ensued for those that remained upright. Consistency paid for those who managed the oscillations and kept the bows pointed at the mark and in the next blast of breeze. Again--huge thanks to the on the water jury of Andrew Cole, Sara Morgan Watters, Esteban Forrer and Tierney Driscoll who were on top of the action. Congrats to the ODU Monarchs who were absolutely terrific on both days and earned the championship victory.
Fun fact: Eric Reitinger not only came back to help serve his alma mater and College Sailing in the pin/finish boat but did a 5K run before racing began and dominated it by over 7 minutes ahead of the second place competitor.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
