Sailors were greeted on Saturday with sunny skies and a decent northwesterly breeze of 6-8 knots. The wind consistently shifted to the right throughout the day, leading to lighter and lighter breeze until the easterly fully shut off at 2:45 PM. PROs Jon and Jess Ledsworth were able to get in six A division races and four B division races before racing was cancelled for the day at 3:15 PM.
After Day One of racing, Northwestern Purple leads with 30 points.
The judges for the event, Dennis Bartley and Geoff Pedrick, heard two protests, resulting in one DSQ.
After a short on-shore postponement, the wind built to 4-7 knots and competitors headed out to the course off the Northwestern Sailing Center, at which point the wind completely shut off again. Racing was resumed at 11 AM and three races in each division were completed in 3-6 knots of southeasterly breeze and a lumpy sea-state, for a total of seven races per division for the weekend. Thank you to the competitors for being understanding with race committee as conditions were not easy to work with.
Congratulations to Wisconsin 1 for winning the regatta, as they sailed away from the competition on the final day of racing.

The committee heard four protests throughout the weekend.
