The J70's provided plenty of exciting action and close competition. These boats require special attention when managing available power through the puffs and lulls. Smooth adjustments to backstay, traveler, vang, sheeting tension, and jib halyard controls in addition to smooth steering and timely hiking were essential. The teams that executed their transitions and stayed in phase with the shifts excelled.
The up and down breeze also provided multiple strategic options downwind between the planning, VMG, and wing on wing modes. Top boat speeds under spinnaker today were in the middle teen's.
Coast Guard 2 and Roger Williams finished tied on 25 points with the Bears earning the head to head tiebreaker 5 races to 4. Congratulations to the winning team of Eric Gimple '20, Andrew Goetz '18, Zach Groce '18, and Will Gigantelli '18.
