Admirals Cup

Summary

Saturday, April 22:

Sailors showed up to a very light Northerly and scattered showers. We were rigged and ready but postponed on shore until there was a gap in the rain and the northerly stabilized. Harbor start was 11:20 and racing commenced shortly after. We started race 3A in showers and a dying breeze. We had to abandon that race and sent everyone ashore. We waited until 1530 and called it for the day.

There were two protests heard. One was disallowed and one was withdrawn. Thank you to SMC coach and ICSA rep Connor Blouin and USNA coach Dillon Paiva for hearing them.

Thank you to the USMMA Midshipmen for helping run the regatta.

Report time is 0900 tomorrow. Hopefully we get some wind!

Sunday, April 23:

We were only able to complete 1 race in all 3 divisions today. Race 3A started at 0940 in about 5 knots. After race 3C the wind was starting to die. A division was about 3/4 of the way into race 4 before we had to abandon due to no wind. We sent everyone back to shore and waited until 1300. We called it for the day and as expected the southerly filled in exactly at 1500.

Congratulations to Tufts for winning the 2017 Admirals Cup.

Thank you to Morgan Collins(ODU '11) for being the PRO and to the USMMA Midshipmen for helping run the event.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
