Day 1 of the Admiral Moore Team Race began with a brief postponement until 3-6 knots filled out of the ENE on the East River. Throughout the day the breeze built to 5-9 knots. A total of 47 races were competed and race 48 will begin at 10:00am on Sunday.
Thank you to Bam Miller and Matty Cohen who served as umpires along with all of the coaches. The SUNY Maritime Cadets led by alumnus Jimmy Keegan '16 and Matthew Romanuski '16 did an excellent job of firing of races all day long and keeping the course fair despite rapidly changing current and wind shifts.
Sailors were greeted with brisk temperatures and a steady 7-10 knot ENE breeze on Sunday. We began racing in the second round robin and quickly realized time would not allow for completion. Six additional FJs were rigged and the top 6 teams sailed a round robin in FJs and the bottom 4 sailed in 420s.
Thank you to the SUNY Maritime Cadets and alumni Matt Romanuski '16 and Jimmy Keegan '16 for braving the cold weather and running a successful event. Also thank you to Bam Miller and coaches for umpiring all weekend.
Congratulations to the U.S. Naval academy for winning the 2017 Admiral Moore Team Race.
