Teams arrived to Port Jefferson Yacht club to rain and glassy conditions. A huge thank you to Strathmore Bagels in Setauket for providing an amazing spread of bagels! Race 1A was started around 11:30am in a weak northerly. Race 2A was attempted but abandond when the wind completely died. After a long lunch break, the rain stopped and racing resumed around 2pm in a nice SSW breeze of about 8-12 knots. 5 more A races and 6 B races were completed. It was decided that no racing would be attempted on Sunday due to the high wind forecasts. Sailors were treated to great sandwiches from Northport Deli and Caterers after racing. Stony Brook, Stevens, and UMBC rounded out the top 3.
Thank you to all of the teams who participated, Port Jefferson YC for their hospitality, and all of the SBU Sailing Team members who helped make the regatta a success despite less than ideal conditions!
No racing due to high wind
