Summary

Saturday, February 20:

The first day of racing started off with a thick fog and a light breeze from no particular direction. The wind eventually picked up to a level that competition could begin, and races were off after a short on land postponement. A big thank you to the Tulane Sailing Coach, John Loe, for running races on Saturday and Tulane Sailing's President, Malcolm Kriegel, for taking over on Sunday. With 13 boats on the line competition was heated, with Milwaukee taking a quick lead followed by Stony Brook, and a fierce battle over third place between Galveston and Tulane. Racing finished as the light began to fade and racers began to tire.

Sunday, February 21:

Day two kicked off with a similar windless fog but, weather permitting, racing got underway fairly quickly. With the wind coming off the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, it made for an incredibly shifty day. With whimsical 45 degree shifts several times a race, constantly keeping sailors on their toes, the day progressed without any major hiccups. All good things coming to an end, the event was won by the Milwaukee Panthers followed by Stony Brook and Tulane in second and third respectively. Another big thank you to the race committee and competitors alike, many traveling from the farthest reaches of the country to compete.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
