Saturday morning greeted the racers with rainy skies and a severe lack of wind. With a ripping outgoing tide, it took most sailors at least five minutes to cross the start line in the first race. The wind picked up as the day progressed and the race committee was able to get an impressive amount of races in before calling it as the breeze progressed over a consistent 12kts. Racers were then met by warm showers and a spaghetti feed prepared for by members of Morro Bay Yacht Club and the Cal Poly Sailing Team.
While many foul weather gear items were still soaked the day before and morning showers rolled through most of San Luis Obispo county, the pancake breakfast and following races were held underneath blue skies and sunshine. Out of all the starts for that day, there were only three all-clear starts - the rest had 2-3 general recalls as the sailors struggled to manage the current and their positions on the line. However, the wind stayed above 5kts and the sun stayed out for the remainder of the day!
A huge thanks goes out to Morro Bay Yacht Club for allowing the regatta to be held at the yacht club, helping to feed the sailors, as well as house the majority of the teams as well!
The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
