Beautiful weather in Ithaca, NY today at the Merrill Family Sailing Center. The forecast called for a light and variable Northerly breeze and the report time was delayed until 10:30am to accommodate for that. It turned out to be a fantastic decision and the 16 teams eased into the day. When teams arrived at 10:30am the forecast was holding true and the lake was glassed off. At about 11:30 a trickle from the north started and we decided to head out on the water. It was a bit of a surprise that the breeze filled in so nicely ranging from 5-8mph and racing got underway just after 12pm. The breeze continued to build and it leveled off around 12-15mph with some nice chop. The direction was as steady as can be expected and the course marks only had to be lengthened or shortened based on the amount of velocity we had. The breeze held for the rest of the day and in total 9A and 9B races were held with 3 race sets. One protest was filed and resulting in an RAF for race 9B.
We couldn't have asked for better condition today! We have 6 races in each division to finish the rotation and are optimistic that we'll have a similar condition.
Similar forecast for Sunday and when teams arrived at 9am the lake was glassed off. We expected the same trend as the day before with the Northerly breeze filling in at some point once things warmed up. Around 10am breeze started to trickle in from the NW and we sent sailors out on the water. It took a little while for the breeze to settle in, and it was light/shifty around 4-6mph. We started the first race at 10:45am but the breeze died during the first run and the race was abandoned. We went into about a 25 minute postponement at which point the breeze came in from the N straight down the lake and seemed to have something behind it. Racing started for the second time at 11:30am and we didn't stop until the 3pm cut-off time. Five races in each division were held and overall 14A and 14B races were completed for the regatta. Cayuga Lake delivered this time around. It was a fantastic regatta on a beautiful weekend with temperatures in the high 60's on Saturday and low 70's on Sunday. We couldn't have asked for better conditions.
Congratulations to Hobart and William Smith College for their convincing win.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.
The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
