The Yale Bulldogs won the rumble on the river to take home the 35th annual Lynne Marchiando Trophy. This trophy honors a distinguished member of the sailing team who spent all of her free time enjoying competitive racing as a varsity sailor.
With a horrendous forecast of gales and snow forecast for Sunday the sailors ripped through the 91 race, 36 boat round robin and were completed by 430. Everyone sailed in both Fireflies and turbo FJs and the full complement of experienced umpires invoked instantaneous justice on the field of play. There were no breakdowns in either fleet all day and the MIT Sailing Team members traded off in finish boat and managing tech score.
Sam Madden was the chief umpire and was supported by team members Matty Cohen, Nick Kotsatos, Jeff Dusek, John Moulthrop, Michael Drumm, Beth Barnard, Alec Ruiz-Ramon, Ian Storck, Duncan Swane, Tomas Hornos, Alden Reid. MIT Varsity sailors on RC were Jorlyn LeGarric, Scarlett Kohler, Paige Omura, Christopher Ford, Jordan Ladd, Cutter O'Connell, Kyle Joba-Woodruff, and Coach Matt Lindblad.
No racing is scheduled for Sunday. Thanks again to all.
Franny Charles MIT Sailing Master
Thanks again to the many volunteers who made the event successful. Looking forward to a great conference championship at Coast Guard next weekend. ....
